St. Nicholas

This post will be a picture over load... :)

Monday night we had the usually St. Nicholas party! We all get together and eat some Dutch food and hang out. After dinner we all sing dutch songs and Sinterklaas comes with a gift for everyone! You sit on Sinterklaas' lap and open your gift. So here's some pics from Monday night!

I love St. Nicholas. Its such a fun holliday to celebrate!

Hockey drama.

I dont know if any of you watched the Olympics in Vancouver when USA and Canada played for the gold medal, but it went into overtime with Canada winning... Ryan Miller was the goalie for USA and deserved the gold medal. I love Miller! i think he is a great goalie and a very humble guy.

I feel so bad for Ryan Miller here. Because Nick plays goalie, i get really defensive against goalie hits... Nick has had nothing compared to this hit, but theres been a few incidents where he was hit.... I can not believe this player hit Miller like this! Thankfully Tootoo got suspended for 2 games... and i think he deserved more.

i know some of you could care less... haha just ignore this post :)

dinner on friday night 12/2/11

Last night i had dinner ready for Nick when he got home. I was soo excited to try something new!

Last night i made Lo Mein with breaded baked chicken on top. It turned out soooo good! I'm really beginning to have more faith in myself with cooking!

and when i asked Nick how it was he seemed really proud of me...

after each thing i cook i ask Nick what i can do to make it better next time.... and he had nothing to say but "Nothing Autumn that was really a GREAT dish"

for desert i made Cake batter rice crispy treats! they turned out sooo yummy also :)

I'm so glad i made the decision to start learning how to cook! i dont know why i didnt learn sooner.... i mean, i have the best teacher out there!

Thoughts...

Today i have had alot of time to myself. Nick worked from 5 to 3:30 and i was home alone all day. Alexei took a 3 hour nap [this usually doesn't happen all at once...] so i spent a lot of time on the computer. For some reason i had the feeling to go to the sight lds.org...

I happened to come across a talk by Elder Dallin H. Oaks.

As i read this talk i realized i have a lot to work on. I dont want to go into my personal issues too much but a couple things stuck out in my mind.

First off...

"Lord, i will follow the"

Matthew 7:1

1.Judge not, that ye be not judged.

2.For with that judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with that measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again.

"We all make judgments in choosing our friends, in choosing how we will spend our time and our money, and, of course, in choosing an eternal companion. Some of these intermediate judgments are surely among those the Savior referenced when He taught that “the weightier matters of the law” include judgmentThus, we must refrain from making final judgments on people because we lack the knowledge and the wisdom to do so. We would even apply the wrong standards. The world’s way is to judge competitively between winners and losers. The Lord’s way of final judgment will be to apply His perfect knowledge of the law a person has received and to judge on the basis of that person’s circumstances, motives, and actions throughout his or her entire life"

and

"Since mortals cannot suppose that they will be acting as final judges at that future, sacred time, why did the Savior command that we not judge final judgments? I believe this commandment was given because we presume to make final judgments whenever we proclaim that any particular person is going to hell (or to heaven) for a particular act or as of a particular time. When we do this—and there is great temptation to do so—we hurt ourselves and the person we pretend to judge."

I have a lot to work on. I'm not perfect, no one is. but i do need to try and better myself.

Just a thought

Nick's Countdown to Christmas!

I love my husband.... But he has been working a ton! he has been working from about 5 am to 4 in the after noon.... He's so wonderful to work to support his little family.

So to show him my appreciation i made him a christmas countdown.

Each day he gets to read one :)

for christmas day i made him a card and i typed up a lot of the good memories we've had over our 6 years together..

I love my husband and i hope that after this Advent calendar he feels my love even MORE! :)

Dinner!

If any of you know my husband... he is the best chef in the world! With that being said... I made my FIRST dinner as a married couple. and YES we've been married for a year and a half... haha.

Nick has been working 10 hour days at pepsi [we're loving the overtime pay] so i decided i needed to step up [not literally haha] and cook dinner.

So here's what i made:

I think it turned out pretty dang good if i may say so myself.

Now... if there's anything i could have done better i would have

1. Put an apron on.... i had to change my cloths afterwards.... and tomato sauce stains... ugh

AND

2. Browned the WHOLE package of hamburger... not just half and then realize you want more Hamburger in the pasta...

I'm sure from now on i'll have more food posts! now that im cooking more often :)
