July 24, 2011

My sweet Alexei was given a name and a blessing, Sunday July 24, 2011.
It was a pretty emotional day for me. There is no better feeling than hearing Nick bless Alexei with a name and a beautiful blessing. Im so greatful Nick holds the preisthood to bless his babygirl. Im truely the luckiest girl alive.
[Lex wasn't to happy about pictures... so there will be more of her in the dress coming soon]

There were 21 people that went up to help bless Alexei. and we counted over 100 people that came to the house after for lunch. Alexei is one loved little girl.

Salt Lake City

Today Nicks Uncle George and Aunt Susie spoke in church. They just arrived home from being mission presidents in Independence Missouri! It was crazy how many missionaries came up to Utah to their homecoming. Its awesome to think of the influence they have on so many missionaries out there.

They're sacrament meeting started at 2:50 and we werent sure how long it was going to take us to get there. Half way there we realized that we had about an hour to spare so we started thinking of things to do. Alexei and I haven't been to the cemetery in Salt Lake where Nicks Oma and Opa Van Komen are buried so we decided to go check that out. That is THE BIGGEST cemetery i have ever been to in my life!

When we were leaving the cemetery we were having a good time spotting all of the General Authorities of the church that were buried there.
When we saw this one we had to stop and get out.
Gordon B. Hinkley has been the prophet of the church ever since i can remember and he has such an impact on my life.
it was very spiritual seeing his head stone today.
We are so lucky to have such great Prophets to give us guidance in this crazy world.

Afterward we went to George and Susie's home coming and it was so awesome to hear them speak about their experiences. They had an awesome Cello and Piano musical number. For some reason i always feel the spirit strongest during the musical number.
Music has such an influence in my life and im so thankful for it.
It was so great to see The Van Komen family again. Its been a while.

WAC Party- Bear Lake

We got home from St. George Wednesday, Nick played hockey Wednesday Night, Thursday i worked at my moms Physical Therapy clinic- Work Ability Centers and Friday i worked in the morning and Nick made the Smoked BBQ pulled pork for dinner that night and then we headed up to Bear Lake for the Work Ability party they have every year!
[let me tell you, i am absolutely exhausted this month is crazy!]

We have a little water baby! she loves boating! she loves to lay on the bench that covers the motor and fall asleep because of the vibrations.
She's such a fun baby.

We went boating and played lots of card games with all the families up there. We stayed the night friday night, woke up and went boating and then came home!
We had so much fun!
Thanks WAC for inviting us!

Alexei is starting to interact with Nick and I a lot and its so much fun.
She's starting to make funny noises and smile a lot.
i have such a cute Diva :)

St. George July 2011

Last week we got the opportunity to go to St. George with our friends The Jensen's and The Olsen's!

We left Saturday afternoon around 5 o'clock!

Lexei did so good during the drive! She slept all the way to Cedar City and then was very ready to get to St. George!
She was so happy to be out of her car seat once we got there!
On Sunday afternoon we went over to my cousin Hailey's house that was just around the corner from where we were staying! Alexei was born May 17, 2011 and Breckin was born May 19, 2011!

Alexei Kaye & Breckin Raye
While we were in St. George we got to spend A LOT of time by the pool which was lots of fun!
The boys played video games every chance they got!
Monday all of us woke up and headed to Mesquite! We had such a great time. While we were there we had to go to the Liquor store to get Tequila for the Tequila lime chicken pasta we made Tuesday night. Nick and i looked so dumb. We had no clue where the Tequila was... haha

On Tuesday Nick and I made plans to go to "Pirate Island Pizza" with my cousin Hailey and her daughter Breckin... but when we got there they had a sign on the door that said it was closed for good... we were soo sad. so instead of going there we decided to go to Smash Burger. It was great food! we loved it!

After Smash Burger we headed over to the outlets and got some really good deals! Alexei got a dress and some jammies for $4.99 and a cute tank and leggings for $4.00. i love the childrens place!

Alexei's new jammies that she got at the childrens place.
We bought them because of the Tulips. In Holland they have tulip fields in May and June every year and thats one of the big things they're known for!

We stayed up way to late playing card games almost every night!
This is Matt & Kathy playing "Suck and Blow" :) we had such a good time! hah

Wednesday morning Nick and I got up and made Crapes for everyone and then got in the car to head home. Alexei slept all the way from St. George to Layton! I have to admit, we have a pretty good baby!
Kelly & Jamie, Thank you so much for inviting us to St. George to spend the week with you!

4th of July fun!

We had such a fun 4th of July!
On the 2nd of July we hung out with The Olsens!
We went to Doolies Wings in Clearfield!
It was such a cute little restaurant!
[The Van Komens]

[The Olsens]

Alexei slept the whole time we were there!
Afterwards we went to "Black Cats" in Kaysville and bought some fireworks and headed over to The Olsen's house!

Nick & Matt played some video games while we waited for it to get dark and for The Jensen's to show up!
And then we started the fireworks!

This was our $5 tank! and it was well worth the $5!

Kathryn enjoyed hanging out with little Lex while the fire works were going!

On the morning of the 4th we woke up bright and early at 6 o'clock!
Nick went and helped his brother Matt set up his booth "Rocky Mountain Grill & Catering" at the West Point park while Alexei and I got ready for the parade!

We had such a great time at the parade. Alexei slept through the whole thing. Fire trucks and all :)

after the parade we spent the rest of the day at West Point park helping Matt. It was well worth it because of the money in the end, but boy were we exhausted by the end of the day!
